Anchors
We are the “IDF Heroes - An Anchor for the Soldier” nonprofit organization, established to reach combat soldiers and reservists who need support but are not receiving it today, including those who are not recognized by the Ministry of Defense. After examining the issue - and because we all served as combatants - we found that about 95% of the soldiers who served in the war do not proactively seek mental health support due to barriers such as stigma, cost, or a "toughen up" / "be a man" culture. Our goal is to identify these soldiers through field networks and commanders, and to build tools for support and an active community for them.
Our model will be based on experiential workshops (such as carpentry, boxing, baking, and yoga) and retreats (in-depth workshops and journeys). All of these will be led and facilitated by professionals, either voluntarily or for a symbolic fee, in order to prevent trauma from becoming entrenched and to enable a full and safe return to everyday life.
